StoppingPoints.com Editorial on Site of Old Veramendi House:
The Veramendi house or palacio was originally home of Juan Martin Veramendi, Mexican vice governor and governor of Coahuila and Texas. The house was very likely a location where James Bowie courted Ursala Veramendi (or Beramendi) prior to marrying her. Benjamin Milam died outside of the house during the Siege of Bexar. The original building is no longer standing. The marker is inside the building, according to the records of the Bexar County Historical Commission. The doors of the old Veramendi house are on display at The Alamo.
