StoppingPoints.com Editorial on Galilee Missionary Baptist Church: | Phone: (940) 458-4370 Historic timeline of Galilee Missionary Baptist Church, Sanger, TX: 1882 Sanger founded. 1909 - Galilee Missionary Church founded at the farm of John W. & Eliza McCarty, south of Sanger. 1910 - New church was built at 300 East Willow Streeet, which also doubled as a school. 1920s - Women of the congregation raised money to buy a bell for $15. 1957 - A larger building was built in place of the original building. 1970 - The bell was repaired after being inactive for years due to a broken mount. 1998 - The Rev. Reginald Logan became pastor; the current structure replaced the one built in 1957. 2009 - 100-year anniversary with the bell still ringing. |
