Texas State Historical Marker |
This native stone was a part of the first railroad bridge built across the Rio Grande on the entire United States - Mexican border, February - March, 1881. This trestle supported the rails of the Southern Pacific as it came from the west, at a crossing point above El Paso and in the throat of the pass to the north. Presented by The State National Bank El Paso, Texas 27 December 1966
