Cook moved here in 1857 from Tennessee. A leading farmer; head of a prominent family. Had one of first cotton gins in Upshur County. Built this Greek revival house in 1882. Its fine glazing and window and door trim were unusual in that era. Recorded Texas Historic Landmark, 1966
