This church was organized in 1893. The congregation met at the Farmers Alliance Hall before building their first sanctuary in 1894. Louis Manuel Parsons deeded over two acres, which included the newly constructed building, to the church in 1896. A second sanctuary was built in 1916 and replaced by a third church building in 1954. A new facility containing an auditorium and baptistry was dedicated here in 1981. This congregation continues its long tradition of helping community members in need and supports various missionary and outreach activities. (1993)

StoppingPoints.com Editorial on Little Hope Baptist Church: | On January 1, 2010, The Little Hope Baptist Church suffered a fire. Very oddly, the congregation had viewed the film, Fireproof, a film about a fireman who strives to save and renew his marriage, on New Years Eve. The county fire marshall was quoted in one news report, suggesting that the fire was likely to be found due to a malfunctioning surge protector. Approximately 25 miles away, the Faith Church of Athens, Texas, also burned the same night - one of a number of arson-caused church fires in East Texas to occur in early 2010. |
